What is this? you ask.
Single-mindedly fixated on the prize,
You know of nothing else.
The world passes you by,
Like a stream curving around a rock,
Steadily marching forward
Without even the slightest falter.
But as you fall father behind the crowd,
Longing creeps into your heart—
I want to go to it.
First it is a shy, trembling want
but then it grows stronger and stronger
Until it is fierce, powerful, fervent,
consuming, uncontrollable.
Drawing strength from your emotions,
The threads of your desires,
Your soul,
And your being
Intertwine into a steady rope,
Coiled tightly, poised, crackling with energy.
With pinpoint accuracy, you target the prize,
And the rope flies straight and true.
Lashing tightly on the prize
It is an anchor, waiting for your arrival.
But desperation overcomes you—
You are already losing your grip.
Obstacles are in your way
And they are holding back your prize.

II. The world starts to settle
the noises die down
lights flicker and dim
and she has unfailingly arrived.
Gliding from one rose-tipped cloud
to another
she advances steadily.
Nothing blocks her way;
nothing dares stand in the way
of a being who is so powerful
and so dangerous
and so intimidating.
News of her arrival spreads
like wildfire,
but not as a roaring blaze
but rather, dark whispers
travelling at the speed
of not light,
but darkness.
And eventually it reaches him
a powerful being in his own right
clad in regalia
a lion’s mane of fire
and light and warmth.
But before her,
this awe-inspiring entity
who comes to dance with him
as is their nightly ritual,
he wants to bow down.
But he cannot;
showing weakness in front of her?
